For roughly the last three weeks, I've been documenting the student response to some really awful incidents that recently occurred at Lewis & Clark College which you can read about here and here. Unfortunately, these were not the first incidents of their kind in my time at Lewis & Clark (nor will they likely be the last). It seems like every year there is some type of racist bullshit that transpires at LC - it's followed by impacted students and allies coming together to try and get the administration to address issues of pervasive racism at Lewis & Clark, but then the movement fades away when the students who are spearheading the efforts (mostly students of color) graduate. It's a pretty awful situation with no easy fix and based on what I observed this time around, things unfortunately aren't likely to change any time soon.
